Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry and Minister of Education, Rob Fleming will be answering questions from children about COVID-19 during a virtual town hall that will be live streamed on Saturday, May 2 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on News 1130’s Facebook page.
Details about the event and instructions for children to submit questions can be found on City News and News 1130’s website.
This event will be posted to CMSD82 school websites and shared with our District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) and School PACs for the information of parents and guardians.
Dr. Bonnie Henry, Provincial Health Officer has prepared a special video address to thank teachers, educational assistants and school staff for all their work during these unprecedented times.
As we continue to flatten the COVID-19 curve in B.C., Dr. Henry shares it is crucial that we maintain the supports established for the children of essential service workers and make sure we continue to expand the provision of in-person support for vulnerable students, and students with disabilities and diverse abilities.

The Board of Education for Coast Mountains School District is pleased to announce the following leadership staffing appointments for the 2020-2021 school year effective August 1, 2020:
Currently a Vice Principal at Skeena Middle School, Cory has been appointed Principal of Uplands Elementary School. This position has become available as a result of the upcoming retirement of the current Principal. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in History and English, and a Bachelor of Education Degree, both from the University of Victoria. His graduate degree is a Master of Education in Special Education from the University of Flinders (Australia). Uplands Elementary School and the school community will benefit tremendously from having an educator with the experience and expertise that Cory will bring to the principalship role.
Currently a Vice Principal at Caledonia Secondary School, Joe has been appointed to the position of Vice Principal at Skeena Middle School. Joe holds a Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from Trinity Western University, a Bachelor of Physical Education degree and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Winnipeg. His reputation as a team player, combined with his passion for student achievement and his strong commitment to all learners and their families will serve him well in his role as Vice Principal at Skeena Middle School.
Currently the Vice Principal at Uplands Elementary School, Eric has been appointed to the position of Vice Principal at Suwilaawks Community School. This position has become available as a result of the upcoming retirement of the current Vice Principal. Eric holds a Bachelor of Education Degree from McGill University and a Master of Educational Technology Degree from the University of British Columbia. His reputation as an outstanding and dedicated elementary educator with deep commitment to the success of young people at the school and community level, will serve Suwilaawks Community School very well.
Currently the Vice Principal at Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School, Robert has chosen to return to the classroom effective the 2020-2021 school year. The Board of Education extends its sincere gratitude and appreciation to Robert for his contributions and efforts in his leadership role.
Currently the Vice Principal at Cassie Hall Elementary School, Julia has been appointed Vice Principal at Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School. She holds a Master of Education Degree through the Vancouver Island University and a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of British Columbia. Julia is a strong and passionate advocate for the success of all learners including those from diverse and rich cultural backgrounds. Her energy and enthusiasm will have a positive impact on the continued success of the students and the school community at Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School.
Coast Mountains School District will be actively seeking a Vice Principal for Cassie Hall Elementary School effective the 2020-2021 school year and will conduct a Canada wide search beginning today.
